59 RIVOLI

An Unforgettable, Interactive Art Experience in the Heart of the Marais

When 59 Rivoli was abandoned by Crédit Lyonnais and the French state, very few would be able to imagine it becoming what it is today. A run-down, dirty squat, a far cry from the vibrant space it is now, but Gaspard, Kalex, and Bruno saw the potential. With the help of a group of passionate artists, they transformed the building into what it is today; a quirky, colorful studio where 30 artists can create, experiment, and share their incredible work with the world.

Gaspard Delanoë, found on the third floor of the 59 Rivoli creates art intended to shock. He always makes time to talk with visitors of the building, I have myself enjoyed many a conversation about the history of the building or the intentions of his art. He creates pieces like this one (pictured left, below) and one could spends hours looking at each piece. He has a huge collection of metro tickets from the many visitors which come each day, perhaps you could add one to!

The beauty of the place is that the art is happening in real time, right before your eyes. Because of this ever-changing art, it’s a place you can visit again and again without ever getting bored. The building’s layout makes it feel less like a stuffy gallery and more like someone’s home, as you can meet the artists themselves, with each floor offering new themes to explore.

A truly different experience of modern art. The entrance is free, but make sure to leave a tip if you enjoyed yourself. Your contribution helps support the artists and ensures that this incredible space can continue to thrive
